Am I Going To Heaven ?
Give your opinion. What are you trusting in order to go to heaven?
1. Keeping the 10 Commandments
2. Turning from sin
3. Doing my best
4. Leading a good life
5. Doing good works
6. Tithing or giving money to the church
7. Attending church
8. Praying
9. Water Baptism
10. Holy Communion
According to the Bible none of these can help to save us, even if we could maintain some of these requirements. We are not saved by our works.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
Some of these things are good to do and God will reward an obedient believer, but they can never make the payment for our sin.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us....” Titus 3:5
“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ....” Galatians 2:16
The Bible is clear that the only way to reach Heaven is by BELIEF ALONE in Jesus Christ. Even trying to do our very best to be good could not make us good enough to live forever in God’s perfect Heaven.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Since Jesus has made the complete payment for our sins, doesn’t it make sense to trust Him right now as your own personal Savior?
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life....” I John 5:13.
According to God’s word, if you simply believe on the name of the Son of God: Jesus; you can be absolutely certain of eternal life right now. It depends upon what Jesus has already done, not what we may or may not do.
Eternal life is the free gift of God (Romans 6:23). After we are saved, obedience to God brings love, joy, and peace into our lives. Galatians 5:22,23.
When we disobey God, He will discipline us as a loving father does his child. But He promises to never lose us. This is the “Good News” of salvation. Hebrews 12:5, 6.
“...him that cometh to Me I will no wise cast out...” John 6:37, 39.
